In Korean culture, the pine tree represents
life, longevity, integrity and elegance. It also
has deep significance for Seoungjun Lee,
evoking memories of his upbringing.
Traditionally, the Pine tree played a vital role in
Korean life: it was used to construct
homes, its needles announced new births,
it served as firewood and shade, and it
even provided pinewood coffins.

Sadly, these customs are fading amidst rapid
modernisation and pine wilt disease which leads to the limited
access to nature. This project aims to revive thisconnection by recontextualising conventional Korean living. The installation depicts the traditional placement of windows as a portal, framing nature from within the domestic environment.
